One of the sweetest of the winter squashes we have grown, Honeyboat Delicata is a cozy treat in the fall and early winter. It is one of the first winter squashes we start to eat come fall, primarily because it is so sweet and delicious. Its small size and oblong shape make it very easy to cut and bake. Honeyboat needs nothing to be absolutely delectable but can be dressed up to your heart’s desire. The skin is quite thin and can be eaten, making it all the more simple to cook, prepare, and eat!
Honeyboat has long fruits with a coppery orange base that are speckled with orange, green, and yellow. Harvested and cured, this variety will store for at least three months of winter in cool dry conditions. We recommend holding off harvesting if possible until after a first light frost for ultimate sweetness and storability. Be sure to sunbathe your squash! Cure them in a warm place in the sun for 7-10 days. 100 days to maturity.
